PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A deadly shooting on Towne Point Road in Portsmouth left a 19-year-old man dead and a 5-month-old baby injured on Saturday afternoon, according to the Portsmouth Police Department (PPD).
Police responded to a shots fired call in the 3800 block of Towne Point Road at approximately 12:02 p.m. on Jan. 24. Upon arrival, officers found 19-year-old Keonte Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by officers and emergency medical personnel, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tragically, during the incident, a 5-month-old baby was also struck by gunfire. The infant was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be expected to recover, authorities said.
